AI & API
Chore-List is built to be driven by AI assistants as well as people. It ships a full REST API and a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, so tools like Claude, ChatGPT, and Muse can manage your family’s chores in plain words.

What can an AI assistant do with Chore-List?
Everything the app can do: list family members, create one-off and recurring tasks, list and complete tasks, dismiss tasks, read balances and transaction history, adjust a balance, and create, list, and redeem rewards. For example, a parent can say:
- “Add a $1 chore for Rohan to put the trash can out every Wednesday at 7 AM, and remind him Tuesday at 9 PM.”
- “What’s Aaryan’s balance, and what did he earn this week?”
- “Create a $5 ice-cream-trip reward, redeemable once a week.”
Connect via MCP
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the standard way AI assistants connect to external tools. Chore-List’s MCP endpoint is:
Adults create a key in the app under API keys (top bar). Keys are shown once, can be revoked at any time, and only ever access your own family.

list_members, create_task, create_recurring_task, list_tasks, complete_task, dismiss_task, get_balance, list_history, adjust_balance, create_award, list_awards, redeem_award.
Prefer plain HTTP? Use the REST API
The same API key works with the REST API at https://chore-list-app.234apps.com/api/v1 - tasks, members, recurring series, awards, redemptions, history, balance adjustments, member ordering, and family settings, all as JSON. A few things worth knowing:
- Create a task with
POST /api/v1/tasksand anassignee_emailfield to assign it (or omit it to drop the chore into the Open Chores pool). - Reminders are offsets from the due time:
reminders: [{"amount": 10, "unit": "hours"}]- units are minutes, hours, or days. - Recurring chores live under
/api/v1/serieswith a frequency of daily, weekly, or monthly.
Safety
- Keys belong to a family and can only see that family’s data.
- Kid accounts never get API access - keys are created by adults only.
- Revoke a key the moment you stop using a tool; revocation is immediate.
